Menz FruChoc Churros
Ingredients
Method
-
Step 1
In a medium saucepan add the water, butter, brown sugar, and salt, and heat until it just boils.
Remove from the heat and add the flour.
Place in a large bowl to cool slightly (about 5 minutes). -
Step 2
In a separate bowl, add the eggs to the flour mixture a little bit at a time.
At this stage you will need patience as the mixture takes a bit to come back together.
It will appear unmixed but don’t give up! It will need a bit of elbow grease.
Once it comes together, repeat adding egg mixture until it is all mixed in and well blended.
Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, before placing in your piping bag. -
Step 3
While that is cooling, in a medium to large pot heat the vegetable oil (must be very hot).
While that is heating, combine the sugar and ground cinnamon in a large flat dish.
Now you can fill your piping bag with the churros mixture. -
Step 4
Test your oil by placing a small amount of dough mixture into the pot.
The dough should bubble up straightaway, if it does, your oil is ready. -
Step 5
Squeeze some dough into the oil about 3 inches long and at the tip of the piping tool cut away dough with a butter knife.
You should be able to cook 5 at a time.
Ensure you turn the churros around in oil to cook evenly and once they are golden brown, remove from oil and place on paper towel for a few seconds. -
Step 6
Transfer them into your large flat dish and coat in the sugar dust.
-
Step 7
Chop up Menz FruChocs and set aside.
-
Step 8
Melt the chocolate in a bowl over simmering water or alternatively, in the microwave in 30 sec bursts until melted.
-
Step 9
Add the Menz FruChocs and serve with your warm Churros.
